Hans was not a regular churchgoer when we met, he had a tough schollong at a faith school. But he loved beautiful churches.  We met at the launch of fundraising initiative for St Augustines church.  He led walks around Maida Vale and always took peop,e to seeSt Marys Paddington Green.  We had our church marriage ceremony there 19 years ago.  He wheeled me over the canal to services at least once a month, and especially lovedthe Community Service held there in early December.  The service was Christian but all faiths attended, and contributedto the service thoughreadings and prayers. candles are integral to most faiths, and Hans knew that on entering a church at our regular servicesor on our travels, i would want to light candles for livedones and wouldmake sure i was wheeledto the stand to let me do so. I lit a candle tidayin memory of happier times.
