At this time of year Hans would have begun his Saturday walking, he would take  a train out of  London, having chosen a station on that line to start his walk from.   He plotted a route of about twenty miles through the countryside on footpaths, to another station on the line.   That would be his return point.   He loved to reopen footpaths closed and to tackle the overgrown miles.   He would  stop in a village Pub for lunch.  He carried with him, Ordinance Survey maps and books to help identify birds, flowers,trees and fungi.   Ablove all fungiiijj)
